GROUP WORKSHOP · 5-day · SEOUL

Foundations of Street Photography

Three full days shooting the streets, markets, and neighbourhoods of Seoul with John and John local guide who knows the city inside out. Each day covers different locations, techniques, and light conditions — from composition and timing to building the confidence to photograph people. Each evening, the group gathers for an informal photo review. You share what you found, hear other perspectives, and understand why certain images work and others don't. People arrive as strangers and leave as friends.

What will we do

DAY 1

Mapo-gu — free shooting day

The final day is looser. John gives you a location and a brief — and you shoot on your own. This is where you apply what you've learned without someone looking over your shoulder. Reconvene in the afternoon for a final group edit. The day ends with dinner together.

DAY 2

Bukchon Hanok Village

We start early — before the tour groups arrive. Bukchon's narrow alleys and traditional rooflines are a perfect canvas for learning light and geometry. John walks you through reading a scene, deciding what to include and what to leave out. Afternoon moves to nearby Samcheong-dong. Group review at 7pm.

DAY 3

Gwangjang Market

One of Seoul's oldest and most photographically dense markets. Day 2 is about people — how to approach strangers, how to read body language, how to photograph someone in a crowd without feeling like you're intruding. Full day inside and around the market, finishing with late afternoon light at the Han River. Group review at 7pm.
