Chris
Chris is a skateboarder, movie-lover and photographer who's spent nearly fifteen years exploring Seoul by foot and Korea by tiny van. His photography career is wrapped up with his life in this country, first breaking into the industry shooting for local travel magazines and fashion brands, and eventually finding his way into working with international names such as National Geographic Traveler and Penguin Random House.
Chris is deeply passionate about photography. While he might get a little too chatty when he gets on the subject, he's always thrilled for the chance to share about the ideas, history and culture of photography that make the practice so endlessly engaging.
Together with his wife Kelly, Chris started the creative studio and indie-publisher Polite Company Press in 2022, where they focus on their creative projects and offer photo printing and risograph printing for the local creative community. The two have been involved in producing nearly 20 self-published zines, a risography illustration book and a variety of stationery.
PCP is also dedicated to developing connection between the often discrete artists, photographers and creatives who live in this city by hosting small community-based events such 'Photo Books & Hot Chocolate' and a monthly photo club.
"Chris won't settle for anything less than great when it comes to his art. Over more bowls of noodles than I can count, I've come to appreciate him as someone who sees a world that's never black or white — humble in his approach, but with the rare capacity to hold people accountable. Tell Chris you're planning to try something in your photography? Think first, because he'll make you do it."Jitse about Chris

Jitse
Jitse is an Amsterdam-born walker, reader and perpetual asker of questions, who followed his Korean wife to Seoul and made this country his home. At just over two meters tall, he is, by his own admission, one of the city's more conspicuous residents. He never leaves the house without a camera in his pocket — a real one — and considers a day without a wander a day not fully lived.
Before guiding travelers through the streets of Seoul, Jitse spent fifteen years in human resources at globally relevant companies including LG Electronics and Adidas. Somewhere along the way he also spent a winter above the Arctic Circle caring for eighty husky dogs, and a season guiding hikers through the Indian Himalayas. He has always found his way to places where the walking is good and the stories are better.
His knowledge of Korea has grown through a mix of formal study and the kind of learning that only comes from living somewhere slowly. He learned about the city in language courses and academic programs, but it's been the years of taking every unknown alley and conversation with every friendly face that have taught him how to truly share the essence of Seoul.
A tour with Jitse favors an in-depth experience of the city, rather than a rush to visit every last landmark but seeing little along the way. He will guide you to the road two turns off the main street, through the neighborhood where people actually live, to the market stall helmed by a character with a story to tell. Sensitive to what will make the experience as rich as it can be, Jitse's tours are continually shaped as they progress for the benefit of the guests - without ever needing to be asked. More stories, fewer words, slower pace, taller guide. Seoul will do the rest.
"Jitse's love for Korea and the city of Seoul radiates from the moment you meet him. His eternal enthusiasm for the cascade of charms and quirks he spots and shares on his walks make me, a resident of nearly fifteen years, feel like I've barely scratched the surface of all this city has to offer. It's this quality that truly impresses me about Jitse and what he does on his tours - he reveals a way to see beyond the mix of tradition, modernity and city bustle into a world that is both deeply positive and full of curiosity."Chris about Jitse
